Client Profile:
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the world’s leading qualification when it comes to professional standards in land, property and construction. In a world where more and more people, governments, banks and commercial organisations demand greater certainty of professional standards and ethics, attaining RICS status is the recognised mark of property professionalism.
Over 100,000 property professionals working in the major established and emerging economies of the world have already recognised the importance of securing RICS status by becoming members. RICS is an independent professional body originally established in the UK by Royal Charter. Since 1868, RICS has been committed to setting and upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity – providing impartial, authoritative advice on key issues affecting businesses and society.
Situation:
RICS Headquarters at Great George Street, London, was nearing completion of a 12 month project to upgrade staff, member and public restaurant facilities. The project had been split into seven key phases, largely working from top to bottom within the building. Catering Consultancy Bureau was appointed to manage the tendering process for catering services. The catering requirements were split into several main areas and applicants were invited to respond to either all packages or just one as follows:
Package One
Commercial public dining restaurant at 11 Great George Street London, to Michelin rating and structuring a bistro style facility on the first floor that complements the fine dining restaurant.
Package Two
Venue catering and conference catering together with staff restaurant, café bar and informal dining services at RICS’ two sites in London and Coventry.
Package Three
Combination of packages one and two.
Outcome of Project:
Catering Consultancy Bureau together with the Client, successfully completed the entire tender process and the successful contractor was appointed. A “branded” signature chef, Michel Roux Jr, was appointed to oversee the commercial public restaurant together with the commercial venue catering. A significant investment was secured for the restaurant and a previously subsidised commercial facility now produces a significant and guaranteed return for the Client. This was as a result of a correctly structured Invitation To Tender and business plan tender as recommended for RICS by Catering Consultancy Bureau.
Peter Pitham – Managing Director of Catering Consultancy Bureau, worked closely with the Client and personally handled the entire process from start to finish. He continues to provide support through monitoring and auditing the contract. This is carried out in tandem with the business plan contained within the successful contractor’s tender response and agreement.
